About the Irish TerrierBack to Trieven-Sungold | See Puppy InformationSMILING IRISH:The Irish Terrier developed in Ireland, one of the oldest breeds of terriers. Nicknamed the “daredevil,” it has earned the reputation of being adaptable, loyal, spirited, The Irish Terrier is full of life, but not hyperactive. He should be able to relax inside the house and be roused to full activity level quickly. Irish Terriers are intelligent and learn new things easily. They can learn complex tasks with relative ease, when they have the motivation to do so. In motivating, tidbits and toys work equally well. When seeking a trainer, one should look for a person who has experience with Terriers. Irish Terriers have a good nose and can learn to track either animal blood or human scent. Many Irish Terriers enjoy Lure Coursing, although they are not eligible for competition like sight hounds are. In Finland one Irish Terrier is a qualified Rescue Dog specializing at Sea Rescue. "Once you get to know an Irish Terrier well enough to get acquainted with his personality, to recognize the depth of his love, to behold his proud almost swaggering carriage, his catlike grace of movement and blinding speed and coordination of muscle, and his magnificent courage and heart, and to see his unnerving intelligence displayed again and again, you will be convinced that the Irish Terrier is one of the most magnificent of God's creations in the dog family."

The Dam, Granddam, Grandsire, and Aunt all live together with us. They are all intelligent, fun to have around, go everywhere with us, and are all excellent hunters.
The pups show the same temerament. Very friendly, outgoing, brave, and eager to please. Extremely people oriented. Very special pups! Love bird wings, and love the water.
All pups should mature at about 16-19" tall and from 25-35 pounds. Easy care, non-shed coat. Non allergenic.
Irish need lots of attention, love, and need adequate exercise. Not a "hyper" or "yappy" breed, calm in the house, love children and people. Will let you know when someone is around, and would die to protect "his human". Not a better, more intelligent, fun dog around!
